Are you considering training as a Nutritional Therapist?
NTEC Accreditation
NTEC's accreditation procedures involve a rigorous process that thoroughly assesses the course programme against the Core Curriculum required to achieve the National Occupational Standards. Trained accreditation assessors:
- review course documentation
- hold discussions with the course teaching team and administrators, students and graduates
- evaluate the evidence from external examiners' reports and students' assessed work
- observe teaching in the classroom and the clinic
Graduates of courses that have been fully accredited are eligible to apply for direct entry to the professional register held by the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), and will enable you to become a member of British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine (BANT). The CNHC holds an Accredited Voluntary Register (AVR) for the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care (PSA). The PSA oversees statutory bodies and accredits organisations holding voluntary registers for health and social care occupations in the UK.
As of 1st of September 2020, BANT Full Membership will require Bachelor’s (Hons) degree or higher from a recognised university and NTEC accreditation for Nutritional Therapy practice. Find out about requirements for BANT membership here
Training providers may have differences in course formats, examinations and entry requirements but, by selecting an NTEC-accredited training provider, you can be confident of taking a course that is designed to deliver professional training and academic content. Specific information about each course, its prospectus, application procedures, fees and its work towards accreditation can be obtained by contacting the institution direct.
All of the training providers listed below are part of the NTEC accreditation process. Their current accreditation status is noted.
As a accrediting organisation, the NTEC is unable to give personal advice to prospective students. Anyone wishing to study nutritional therapy should enquire of the training institutes about the features of their courses and make their choice after suitable due diligence. Please refer to the bottom of this page for further information.
